GR86-BRZ Bolt On Tuning
Tuning Developments can offer a variety of bolt on Toyota GR86 upgrades, ranging from our popular CAT back exhausts systems, decat pipes and overpipes, through to coilover suspension kits, wheel and tyre combos brake upgrades. All of our exhaust components are manufactured in house, in the UK. A fact we are very proud of.
Toyota GR86 Aspirated Tuning
Tuning Developments launched the now very well known NA Tuning Package for the GT86/BRZ over 10 years ago now, in that time we have improved driveability and power delivery on hundreds upon hundreds of GT86/BRZ models and still continue to do so to this very day!
With that in mind, top of our agenda was to develop a similar kit to suit the GR86/BRZ Gen 2. Having taken delivery of our in house development vehicle, we quickly got to work and strapped the GR86 onto our Dyno Dynamics rolling road in order to get some baseline runs and take some data logs for review.
We were pleasantly surprised that the GR86 appears to make much closer to the quoted OEM HP & Torque figures from Toyota/Subaru when compared to those from the GT86. Our development car made a very healthy 233hp in standard trim with around 1000 miles on the clock.
We note the torque dip is still present as per the GT86, albeit now over a smaller, narrower RPM range. We got to work with the ECUTeK Tuning Suite with no hardware upgrades to see what is possible on an OEM vehicle. The result of this were mild gains in lower RPM and higher RPM, however the torque dip area was still there to be seen.
Having the experience we have with the FA20/GT86/BRZ, we got onto developing an aftermarket GR86/BRZ Gen 2 specific manifold/header with longtube design in order to aid removal of the torque dip.
The result of this upgrade is clear to be seen. Power is increased across to entire RPM range and the torque dip has been smoothened out to give a much more linear ‘normal’ torque and horsepower band. At 3750rpm we are seeing an increase of 25lb.ft torque and at 4500rpm we are seeing a mighty 35lb.ft torque on our development car. That is a 20% increase!
Looking at horsepower, at the very same 4500rpm we are gaining near on 30hp and from 4250rpm onwards are gaining circa 20hp or more all the way to the rev limiter. This alongside the gains in the lower RPM translates into an even better driving experience from the FA24 powered GR86.

Toyota GR86 Forced Induction Tuning
With the base 233hp raised to between 350hp and 400hp, who wouldn’t prefer their GR86 to outperform some supercars not only in the bends but on the straights also! Our demonstrator GR86 is currently making 460hp whilst on the stock unopened FA24 engine, gearbox and drivetrain.
Our turbo kit install absolutely transforms the GR86 platform and pushes the vehicle into the next level of performance. Power delivery is smooth yet urgent and from low RPM. Horsepower and Torque are hugely increased throughout the rev range and this translate into a very quick and understated car from point to point.
